Who is Khara House?

Khara House is an advocate, activist, and author with proven success and innovation in residential property management, civic engagement, and DEIB training and consultation. She currently serves as the Chair of the National Apartment Association Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and as a Board Member for the Arizona Multihousing Association.

Her background includes work in branding/marketing, mentorship, higher education, public relations, government affairs, advocacy, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In addition to various Board, Commission, and community organization memberships, Khara currently serves as an elected member of the Flagstaff, AZ City Council.

Khara holds a master’s degree in English from Northern Arizona University, an Arizona Real Estate salesperson license, her Certified Apartment Manager credential through NAAEI, and certifications in DEI, Mental Health First Aid, and Public Relations.

She is a 2020 graduate of the NAA Leadership Lyceum, the recipient of the 2021 NAA Excellence Award for Emerging Leader of the Year, and the inaugural 2022 NAA DEI Champion Excellence Award recipient. With a background in writing and education, Khara applies her focus on story and storytelling to engaging teams in growth, cultural engagement, and building belonging.
